1st Annual C.A.R. Fund Raising Walk

What a SUCCESS!!

The 1st annual fundraiser for C.A.R. was held Saturday May 31, 2008, at Lake Zorinsky in Omaha.

It was such a great success thanks to all of the wonderful people in this community and the

folks that came from as far as Washington state and NYC to support C.A.R.  Over 900 people

participated in the 1 and 5 mile walks/runs on a beautiful early summer setting by the lake.

Check back often for more updates and information!!

Did You Know?
  • On average, on teen will be taken to the hospital for treatment due to injuries sustained in a car crash; one will die every 2 hours.
  • More teens die every year in crashes than Coalition forces have died in the Iraq War since 2003.
  • More teens die in crashes each year than do from all cancers combined.
  • 16-year old drivers are more likely to be involved in a car crash than any other aged driver.
  • For most new drivers, crashes occur in the first 500 miles of road time.
  • For each non-adult passenger in the vehicle the liklihood of teen crashes goes up exponentially.
  • Teens are more likely to drive too fast for the road conditions than any other age group.

Teen crashes are highly preventable if serious steps are taken by parents and teens to promote safe driving habits in the beginning stages of learning.

Avoiding distractions, driving safely and persistent teaching and reinforcement of good driving behavior/habits are the keys to helping reduce the number of fatalities in this age group (16-20).

Please help up by making a donation to the CAR Alliance to help fund materials that will help educate parents and kids about the real dangers that exist for teens.
